I have never sung acapella in the barbershop style.  What part should I sing?
Lots of our current members were new to barbershop.  We will have a brief "voice placing" session at our first rehearsal so you can find your part.
The voice parts in barbershop harmony for women have different names and functions than they do in other SATB or SSAA vocal styles.
The TENOR part sings the lightest and  HIGHEST note in the chord;  In general a tenor might be considered a Soprano I
The LEAD voice generally sings the MELODY and is below the TENOR harmony; A lead likes to sing the melody of a song and is likely a Soprano II.
The BARITONE part fills in the missing harmony note in a chord that may be ABOVE or BELOW the melody;
The baritone covers approximately the same range as lead but is likely a good fit for an Alto I.
The BASS part supplies LOWEST notes and  the harmonic foundation (root or fifth) of the chord.   A Bass is likely a contralto or Alto II.

Are you accepting new members?
Yes!   We are always looking for singers to join us! Our Membership Chair will be available tell you more about joining Saratoga Soundtrack.
