Scouts Earn Young Women in Harmony Badges

Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus helped girls from Saratoga/Schuylerville Girl Scouts Junior Troops earn their Young Women in Harmony Girl Scout Activity Patch on October 29. Chorus members Cheryl Springer, Jackie Albanese, Wendy Camilli, Sue Pidgeon.Terry Bradway, Lisa Fedele, and Kimberly Van Orman demonstrated singing techniques to the two dozen girls who participated in the event.  This is the second badge event of its kind hosted by the women's chorus.  The badge is part of Sweet Adeline International's music program and consists of 9 activities that were chosen from 3 categories: Discover, Connect, Take Action.

In the Discover activity, the Junior Troops learned about different styles of music. Singing rounds and understanding the beat of music was practiced in the Connect activity. The girl scouts exhibited how to Take Action by actually performing a round, and 4-part harmony for an audience of family and new friends. The scouts had an opportunity to hear Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus perform Barbershop music as well as sing with the chorus. Patches were presented at the end of the evening by Director, Jennifer Hunter.
