Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus Captures First Place
On Saturday, April 25, Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus captured first place in Division A (small chorus containing 12-25 singing members) at the Greater New York/New Jersey Region 15 Annual Convention and Competition, Sweet Adelines International held in Albany.
Under the direction of Jennifer Hunter, 24 passionate singers took the stage to perform in a four-part barbershop style competition. What makes this recent win so amazing is that 7 of the chorus members were first time competitors! These novices recently joined Saratoga Soundtrack and helped create a championship experience. The chorus performed a package containing two songs that explore the perspectives of finding and losing love. The opening song, “This Could Be the Start of Something Big,” was written by Steve Allen and arranged by Larry Wright. This upbeat tune sends the listener a positive message that a new love can await them anywhere. A nostalgic reflection of a relationship that has ended is pictured in the ballad, “From the First Hello to the Last Goodbye,” written by Johnny Burke and arranged by Jim Arns. Both songs contained adaptations by Nancy Faddegon.
Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus is an award-winning women’s a cappella ensemble specializing in four-part harmony. Since its founding in 2008, the chorus has captivated audiences with a diverse repertoire that spans classics, jazz, ballads, and contemporary selections.Their musical performance is visually enhanced through characterization and choreography.
Over the years, Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus has delighted audiences at a variety of well-known community events and venues, including the Lord’s Acre Fair, Saratoga Race Course, Saratoga Victorian Streetwalk, and the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train. The group also regularly performs at private events, including parties and local nursing homes, bringing music and joy to audiences of all ages.
Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus is a not-for-profit chartered chorus of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance. Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus rehearses 7:00 Monday nights at the Knights of Columbus on Pine Rd. in Saratoga Springs.
